Baramulla, July 20: In a significant development, Baramulla police reported the arrest of two individuals from the districts of Kathua and Reasi, involved in the kidnapping of a 19-year-old girl from Baramulla.
According to the official statement released by Baramulla police, with inputs from , the abducted girl was successfully rescued from New Delhi. The incident came to light on 1st July 2023 when a concerned individual (identity withheld) filed a written complaint with Police Post Palhallan, informing them about the disappearance of his 19-year-old daughter (identity withheld) from their residence since 30th June 2013.
Consequently, a case (FIR No. 222/2023) was registered under section 366 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to kidnapping or abduction, at Police Station Pattan.
During the meticulous investigation, it was uncovered that the missing girl had been abducted by unidentified individuals who had later taken her to New Delhi. Responding promptly, the Police Post Palhallan formed a specialized team, which proceeded to New Delhi to rescue the abductee.
As a result of their swift and efficient action, the team successfully located and rescued the victim. Simultaneously, they apprehended the abductors, identified as Ashiq Ali Mangral, son of Mohd Akram Mangral from Tuli Reasi, and Deep Kumar, son of Sadha Ram from Chalabeni Kathua.
The arrested abductors will face appropriate legal consequences for their actions, while the rescued girl has been safely reunited with her rightful family. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
