Police apprehend drug peddlers' gang in Sopore, with the arrest of three individuals, including two women.




Sopore, June 24 (TTK) - In a recent development, police have reportedly dismantled a drug peddling syndicate and apprehended three individuals, including two women.

According to a statement issued by the police to the news agency Kashmir Scroll, their ongoing crackdown on drug peddlers led to the arrest of three suspects at Sangrama Chowk. The police party from Tarzoo Police Station, headed by the Station House Officer (SHO), successfully apprehended the drug peddlers.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Latief Gojar, son of Noor Muhammad Gojar, a resident of Gandoo Tehsil and District Doda, and Parveen Kaunsar, daughter of Meer Hussain, hailing from Sidra Bypass Jammu. The third suspect is Shabnam Begum, daughter of Muhammad Akbar Khan, residing in Akherwani Wulutra Rafiabad.

During a routine patrol, the police noticed two of the suspects walking towards Amargarh, while the third was heading in the opposite direction, exhibiting suspicious behavior. When they saw the police, they attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended by the vigilant officers.
 
A nylon bag in their possession was also seized during the arrest. Upon inspection of the bag, a substance resembling heroin was discovered. Subsequently, the three suspects were taken into custody, and a case was registered against them at Tarzoo Police Station, invoking the relevant sections of the law.

The community is urged to come forward with any information about drug peddlers in their vicinity. Those found involved in drug peddling will face strict legal consequences, as per authorities—(TTK)
